10K RUN

On Your Mark! Get Set! Go! The 31st Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race 10K registration will begin in late April. Individual runners, teams, and wheelchair athletes are training for a new running season and The Great Race on Sunday, September 28, 2008. The 10K Race will start at 9:30 a.m.

The USATF certified course for the 10K (6.2 miles) begins in Frick Park at Beechwood Boulevard. The predominately downhill course runs along Fifth Avenue and the Boulevard of the Allies.

In 2007, there were 6,407 registered runners for the 10K. The Great Race was rated 11th largest 10K in the US in 2007.

A limited amount of space is available at the Start Line for seeded runners. Race participants wishing to be eligible for a seeded position must meet time standards. To receive consideration, a race participant must complete the "Best 10K Time in 2007/2008" portion of the entry form AND submit documented verification of the results of the identified race with the entry form.

Portions of the proceeds are donated to the Richard S. Caliguiri Amyloidosis Fund in honor of race founder and late mayor of Pittsburgh, Richard S. Caliguiri. For more information on The Great Race 10K Run, please call The Great Race Hotline at 412-255-2493.
