| Q | WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST GREAT RACE MEMORY? |
| A | I almost broke 40 minutes back in the '80s, but I don't think I'll ever get that close again. |
| Q | WHY DID YOU REGISTER FOR YOUR FIRST GREAT RACE? |
| A | When I moved to town in 1983 the runners all talked about The Great Race. I ran it the next year and I don't think I've missed more than two or three since. I'm not a perfect Great Racer, but I have run at least 20 of them. |
| Q | WHAT ARE YOUR GREAT RACE TRADITIONS? |
| A | I wear a lucky shirt from Great Races gone-by. I have a bagel and coffee for breakfast and an Eat’n Park cookie to celebrate my finish. |
| Q | DO YOU RUN THE GREAT RACE WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS? |
| A | A few years back I was telling my brother Tim and his friends in Brooklyn that they should come to Pittsburgh for The Great Race. They came and had a great time. Now it's become an annual rite of Fall. They fly in for a Pirates’ game on Friday night, we show off Pittsburgh on Saturday, then we all run the race on Sunday. It's a fantastic weekend. |
| Q | WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO CONTINUE RUNNING THE GREAT RACE? |
| A | It's a great kickoff to Fall, which to me is the best season for running. The course is a tremendous showcase of Pittsburgh – full of stunning vistas, highlighting just how unique and beautiful our city is. It's just great to run it with about 12,000 of my closest friends. |
| Q | WHAT WORDS CAN YOU SHARE TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO JOIN YOU ON SEPT. 29? |
| A | The Great Race is terrific fun. I love the excitement of queuing up at Frick Park and being part of that stream of humanity snaking through Pittsburgh. It has the feel of a moving carnival and a celebration of a city. |
