| Q | WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST GREAT RACE MEMORY? |
| A | Last year was the first time I had ever run that distance. I was overweight for more than 10 years, and in 2005 I started to lose weight by walking daily. I tried to run but was only able to run very short distances. Over time my running increased and my weight decreased. I lost a total of 88 pounds, and last year I decided to sign up for several organized races. I completed two 5K races and then decided to go out on a limb and try The Great Race. It was amazing. The people lined up along the streets clapping and cheering me on and the rush of emotion I felt crossing the finish line. I couldn’t believe that I had just run a total of 6.2 miles. It gave me a boost of confidence and inspired me to keep going. I haven’t looked back since and I plan on continuing to run and to run The Great Race as annually as a reminder of how far I have come! |
| Q | DO YOU RUN THE GREAT RACE WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS? |
| A | I was inspired to run the race by a trainer at my gym, Carol. We registered together and she even ran along side of me for a short while. |
| Q | WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO CONTINUE RUNNING THE GREAT RACE? |
| A | It’s a reminder of how far I have come and what I have accomplished. Also seeing friends who have been inspired by my story who now run and will be running The Great Race keeps me motivated. I know that if one person’s life can be changed then it’s been worth it! |
| Q | WHAT WORDS CAN YOU SHARE TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO JOIN YOU ON SEPT. 25? |
| A | Don’t let your current state or situation dictate your future. Take one step at a time towards the goal you have in mind and watch it come to life! |
| Q | PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW… |
| A | I am the mother of FIVE children ages 17 through 5. |
