RESULTS ANNOUNCED FOR 2013 GREAT RACE
36th running of Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race features record field of runners and walkers
A record field of 15,500 runners and walkers took to the streets of Pittsburgh today for the 36th running of the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. A total of 10,000 registered for the 10K run, while 5,500 registered for the 5K run/fitness walk.
“This 2013 field of 15,500 runners and walkers sets a new record in the race’s 36-year history,” said Interim Race Director Tim Ishman. “Until today, The Great Race registration record stood at 15,000 set last year.”
In the 10K open division, Jim Spisak, 22, of Pittsburgh, was the winner in the men’s competition with a time of 28:54. Clara Santucci, 26, of Dilliner, Pa.,was the winner in the women’s competition with a time of 32:54.
In the 5K competition, Caleb Muller, 22, of Pittsburgh, won the male division with a time of 14:47. Larissa Park, 33, of Somerville, Mass., won the female division with a time of 16:39.
In addition to presenting sponsor Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, 2013 Great Race sponsors are Dollar Bank, Allegheny Health Network, Bottom Dollar Food, KDKA-TV, Pittsburgh Magazine, Trib Total Media, Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown, Port Authority and ARAD.
