10K Race

The Great Race 10K — Pennsylvania’s largest 10K and one of the largest 10Ks in the country — follows a predominantly downhill course from Frick Park in Squirrel Hill to Point State Park in Downtown Pittsburgh. The 6.2-mile route passes through several east end neighborhoods and travels past five college campuses. Click here to view the course map.

10K Teams

DATE: Sunday, Sept 30
START TIME: 9:30 am
LOCATION: Frick Park

Rally friends, colleagues or classmates and enter the 10K team competition. Groups of 3-5 runners compete in one of 3 divisions, in which there are 13 categories for first, second and third place awards.
Categories include:
  • Business/Industry
  • Education/Government/Non-Profit
  • Men’s Teams
  • Women’s Team
  • Men’s Masters
  • Women’s Masters
  • Fraternity
  • Sorority
  • Student Organizations
  • Open Collegiate

A $25 team-processing fee must be submitted with each Declaration Form. In addition to being listed on the Team Declaration Form, each member must also register as a separate 10K participant, paying the individual entry fee.

Teams can register in person at Runner Services during the Great Race Expo.

Push Rim/Hand Cycle

DATE: Sunday, Sept 30
10K START TIME: 9:15 am
LOCATION: Frick Park

Registration deadline to participate in the Push Rim/Hand Cycle Division is Tuesday, September 25 at 11:59 p.m. Wheelchair competitions will be held in both the 10K and 5K races. Plaques and medallions will be awarded to the top male and female in both races. Wheelchair athletes must use racing chairs. For more information, call the Great Race Hotline at 412-586-7785. The Great Race is proud to partner with Hand-Cycle Assistance Teams to present the Push Rim/Hand Cycle Division.

10K Weight Class

DATE: Sunday, Sept 30
START TIME: 9:30 am
LOCATION: Frick Park

Male racers weighing more than 200 pounds are eligible to compete for the Clydesdale crown.
Female racers weighing more than 140 pounds may compete for the Lady Athena title.

Participation in weight-class competitions is optional. Participants interested in entering the Weight Class Competition must weigh in at the Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Great Race Expo. Awards will be presented to the three fastest times in the male Clydesdale and female Lady Athena competitions.

Winners will receive awards by mail approximately 3-4 weeks after the conclusion of the race.
