The 5K run begins in Oakland at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street (at the 10K midway point). The 3.1-mile course travels along a predominantly downhill course before finishing at Point State Park. A fitness walk starts immediately after the 5K run. 

 

Awards Ceremony & Raffle:

The 47th running of the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race presented by Highmark concludes Sept. 29 festivities by honoring winners and awarding raffle prizes to runners/walkers this Sunday!

This year The Great Race awards ceremony will take place in Point State Park at the showmobile after each race:

9 a.m. – 5K awards

11 a.m. – 10K awards

Following each awards ceremony, all registered race participants will be eligible for the post-race raffles – just drop your bib tag into the raffle box and get ready to win great prizes including gift baskets, Eat’n Park gift cards and more! 

All winners must be present at raffles to claim prizes.

Push Rim/Hand Cycle

DATE: SUNDAY, SEPT. 29
5K START TIME: 8:00 A.M.
LOCATION: OAKLAND

Registration deadline to participate in the Push Rim/Hand Cycle Division is Tuesday, September 24 at 11:59 p.m. Wheelchair competitions will be held in both the 10K and 5K races. Wheelchair athletes must use racing chairs. For more information, call the Great Race Hotline at 412-586-7785. The Great Race is proud to partner with Hand-Cycle Assistance Teams to present the Push Rim/Hand Cycle Division.

Children Invited to Become “Highmark Bright Blue Futures Youth Racers”

The new “Highmark Bright Blue Futures Youth Racers” program encourages children to take part in the 2024 City of Pittsburgh Community Footrace Series by offering free registration to The Great Race 5K in September. Each youth 6 to 17 years old who completes one 5K footrace in the City of Pittsburgh Community Footrace Series this summer receives free registration to the September 29 Great Race 5K courtesy of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
